What is microcement?
Microcement is a thin (2-3 mm), cement-based decorative coating applied over existing surfaces such as tiles, concrete, plasterboard or screed. It creates a seamless, joint-free finish for floors and walls, and once sealed it is waterproof and hard-wearing, which is why it is widely used in bathrooms, showers and kitchens.
Microcement (also written micro cement, and closely related to microconcrete and microtopping) has become one of the most popular ways to get a seamless, contemporary concrete look without ripping out what is already there. Because it is only a few millimetres thick, it can be applied straight over existing tiles, concrete or screed.
Why people choose microcement
- Seamless and joint-free: no grout lines to clean or fail.
- Waterproof once sealed: suitable for bathrooms, showers and wet rooms.
- Goes over existing surfaces: less demolition, faster projects.
- Versatile: floors, walls, worktops, stairs and furniture.
